Valefresco, one of the leading suppliers of salad products to the major retailers and packers in the UK has installed a Nelson sprinkler system to improve the quality of their produce.
The system which uses the R2000 Windfighter sprinkler and pre-punched sprinkler pipe also has the advantage of improving the management of herbicide and fertilizer application as well as improving the use of water and labour.
The Nelson R2000 range of sprinklers is specifically designed to apply water in a controlled manner with a unique silicone bearing to regulate the speed of rotation and ensure a gentle application rate which will avoid capping of the soil and the problems associated with run off.
The system is also designed with a drain check to eliminate drain down between irrigations which results in flooded areas.
The drain check also ensures full pressure start up at each sprinkler which reduces washing away around the sprinklers associated with unregulated systems.
